Our REMEDIA partners Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) with the help of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and Centre Hospitalier Intercommunal de Créteil have developed a novel device for collecting exhaled breath condensate (EBC). While not yet in routine clinical use, EBC contains a wealth of molecular biomarkers for conditions like asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, and even cancer. This low-cost, easy-to-use device condenses and freezes EBC in stainless steel tubes, making it perfect for home or clinical use. With a high collection efficiency, this concept device could make EBC-based diagnostics more accessible and reliable. This work has been published here:
